Within the Chinese kung fu society a family tree is what every traditional kung fu school is proud to be a part of. It represents who we are, where we come from and how it all began. It gives us the history and knowledge that comes with it as for remembering the ones before us. If not for them, we wouldn’t have the chance to follow the path of Chinese martial arts. Through their dedication, perserverce, loyalty and hard work, we still have the possiblity to learn a unique deadly fighting art. Therefore a family tree should be respected and honored by every kung fu member at all times.
There is on old Chinese saying that goes as follow:

"Water may never forget it's source"

Nowadays many martial arts schools give less attention to their lineage or don’t even have one to begin with. Some even start inventing their own family tree by adding and continuously changing names. This is just a lack of respect for themselves as for the tradition, martial ethics, moral codes and their students. They do this because they are actually afraid of what tomorrow might bring them, that they start to forget to live in the present:

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift"

Remember, everything starts with respect and no one can change the past. Not you, me or anybody. Who are we to do so? Respect your lineage, ancestors, sifu, style and kung fu school.
As the kung fu tradition demands...This is the foundation of everything.
