Kung fu tea ceremony, also known as kung fu cha - 功夫茶, is a kind of Chinese tea ceremony, involving the ritualized preparation and presentation of tea. A Chinese kung fu tea ceremony should not be confused with a Chinese wedding tea ceremony..this is totally different! The meaning of kung fu cha is "making tea with skill".

 
In China, tea enthusiasts do not only pay great attention to the quality of tea leaves, the material of tea set, but also the way to brew tea and drink it. As a tea master, you ought to therefore master the way of practicing Chinese kung fu tea ceremony ritual, which represent the spirit of the "Way of Tea”(茶道) with four basic principles: thrifty, harmony, respect and aestheticism. The surrounding area should be possitive and tranquil (mow kwoon), to have peace of mind.

 
This traditional tea drinking custom originated in Chaoshan area of China’s Guangdong and Fujian province and has been the most famous and popular tea ceremony throughout China. Masters in the past and even till today still practice kung fu tea daily. Not only to achieve the highest level of meditation, but also to enjoy the moments in life with family, friends and even guests...there is an old saying that goes as follow:

Traditional 21 step kung fu cha brewing method:

Step 1 - Burn incense
Step 2 - Present the tea leaves
Step 3 - Warm the teapot
Step 4 - Add tea leaves into teapot
Step 5 - Add water to clean the tea leaves
Step 6 - Scrape away the bubbles
Step 7 - Rinse the teacups
Step 8 - Add water into teapot
Step 9 - Pour the infusion into the fairness pitcher
Step 10 - Pour the infusion into the fragrance-smelling cups
Step 11 - Drop by drop pouring on the ornaments  
Step 12 - Cover every fragrance-smelling cup
Step 13 - Transfer the tea into teacups 
Step 14 - Serve the tea
Step 15 - Inhale the aroma through nose from the fragrance-smelling cup
Step 16 - Teacup holding gesture “ three Dragon claw " 
Step 17 - Observe the tea colour
Step 18 - Taste the tea, letting it circulate through the mouth with the first sip
Step 19 - Enjoy the aftertaste and the aroma of the tea 
Step 20 - drink the tea and enjoy its taste
Step 21 - Achieve highest tranquillity through meditation
